  3. Make sure your company is listed on Google places, Yelp and also these additional free directories “MerchantCircleGoogle Local Business Center,Angie’s ListYahoo! LocalYellowPages.comSearchLocal, and SuperPages
  4. Quick, Quick,  list the top bloggers in your industry…………Have you befriended them?  Getting the bloggers in your side, possibly sending them your new media kit, press release, or a sample of your product will get them talking and spreading the news!
  5. Are you courting the news channels?  Do you know the reporter with your beat ( your industry is the subject they report/write on) Make sure these people have your information at the ready so if they need advice from an “expert” they know where and how to find you quickly.
  6. Have you considered donating your products or services to a charity, charitable event, silent auction, or non-profit?  For eg., if you are a makeup artist- donating a couple of services to Dress for Success, or a Financial Planner, speaking for free once a month to a local non-profit.  Don’t know where to find these non-profits?  Click here for the top non-profits in the country by category http://www.charitywatch.org/toprated.html
  7. Have you utilized Meetup.com or Facebook Groups?  Organize a group of like-minded people who are interested in your industry- set up monthly meetings and begin to share the knowledge ( not selling).  Over time, this will DEFINITELY bring your company steady leads and marketing reach.
  8. Got some office space?  Donate it to a group or charity once per month to host their meetings…..Awwwwwww, You’re cool, You’re Nice……Network, network, network, Cost: $0
  9. Networking ROI…. Take the people who you’ve met this week, send them handwritten “Nice to meet you” ” You’re cool” cards with a discount for your product or service.
  10. Have a pretty cool business?  Do a demo and invite the local news stations to come and participate.  Recently I saw a gun simulation demo on the local news- taking you through the steps of an unfortunate break in- the visual was much better than a paper ad and the company had a few seconds to tell about their classes. I definitely know what I’m in for if I sign up.
  11. Give people more than they expect 🙂 Have you created an ebook?  You’re an expert in your industry, creating a resourceful ebook filled withe fresh content, marketing it through inexpensive/free channels, then guess what???? Give it away for FREE. Sit back, get a glass of wine, and watch it go viral.
